Grass cutting/trimming: city hall worker cutting grass with a noisy grass cutter/trimmer on a sunny day in a house zone, with a dog barking and birds chirping in the background. Recorded with a takstar sgc-598 microphone(10+ db, low-cut), into a zoom h1n(limiter on, full quality, gain ~8). The sound was not post-processed.

This is a simple loop of me playing some nice triplet delay textures on guitar. This is a stereo file with 2 guitars panned on the right and left, playing the same pattern in different octaves, offering a nice atmosphere. This was recorded with a hagstrom f200p (awesome p90 style pickups) on a voxac15, using a boss dd7 for the delay and a beheringer reverb unit (yeah, i love the lo-fi sound of that cheap box!).

Try as a loop! i used my acoustic guitar and did some knuckle-knocking on the body while muting strings. Sounds like a native drum! effect: speed increase from 33 1/3 rpm to 45 rpm, moise reduction and vol. Envelope. Recorded on conexant smart audio with at2020 mic, processed on audacity.

Recorded like this, it was kinda ridiculous but very fun:my laptop when i was playing that little dinosaur game that loads when your page doesn't load -> 1/8" to rca cable -> used one of the rca outputs -> rca to 1/4" adapter -> scarlett 2i2 -> protools.

This was recorded on july 4th, 2013 in enumclaw, wa. I was not expecting the bomber to fly over and it was a tribute to one of the last surviving members (edward saylor) of the doolittle raid on tokyo on april 18th, 1942. He was in the parade too. I can just imagine the sound of hundreds flying over in ww2. There is a bit of distortion as the plane flew directly overhead. Please comment on what you will use it for. :^).

This may be the most irritating squeak sound ever. In our office, we discovered a particular filing cabinet that squeaked if you would lean against it. It was too good to pass up. So i put my recorder in the drawer and leaned. This is the result: four squeaks of unparalleled irritation. I hope you can find a use for this in your projects.

This is a single guitar string plucked with a pick directly at the headstock, that means between the tuners and the nut. There the string is very short and tight, resulting in a high, almost piano-like tone. Also, since there is no sound box, the tone is rather quiet. I used this for a sampler and i liked the sound of it. This is the raw recording. If you want to use it in a sampler too, i recommend adding some eq, reverb and maybe some delay. It is not perfectly in tune though, the closest note is a#. You might tweak the tuning a little bit when using it in combination with other tuned instruments. A collection of sounds, recorded at the fast-food parking lot. An uncommonly-warm day in the great north, the window was partway down so there is an outdoor ambient background. Straw is unwrapped and stuffed through the plastic lid of a drink, making its characteristic shriek. Remembering when as kids, four of us would sit around a table before the age of masking, and work the straws in the lids to generate a racket, i did that. This could be used as a cartoon-ish engine start failure, sounds like an old fiat. Then the crunching of a paper bag as a decadent burger is extracted.

Bowling: here we have the sounds of a bowling ball hitting the pins in a bowling alley. Not only do you hear the loud crash when contact is being made by the ball but you also hear the pins scatter. Early morning rain heard inside of a car in a busy parking lot. Sounds of people walking past, car doors opening and closing, cars pulling in and out, distant traffic on the surrounding roads going by including cars, trucks and busses. Occasional honks. Occasional audible talk-radio in a car parked near by.

This recording was made with an iphone 4s fitted with a tascam condenser stereo microphone in an asian restaurant in bern. We hear the sound of the restaurant with people eating and chatting while the open kitchen is busy washing and preparing dishes. One of the bus boys is singing to himself, which can be heard dimly and at some point a bell strikes a few times.

Tabla is percussion instrument with two drums 'daya' and 'baya'. Only the 'daya' drum is usually tuned. For checking the tuning the 'na' bol is played. Recorded using samson-go portable condenser mike at home. Placing the mike too close to tabla was clipping the sound and if placed away, it was not picking the extended resonance. Hence the mike was moved closer after attack, hence the apparent increase in amplitude and some doppler effect is seen.
